Maggie Welling

Real Therapy. Real Connection. Real Care.

Founder & Lead Therapist

I’m an inclusive, down-to-earth therapist who believes in celebrating your authentic self. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable, supported, and able to show up exactly as you are. I approach therapy with humility, curiosity, and warmth, and founded Welling Wellness to foster a community where both clients and clinicians feel seen, respected, and empowered.

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker – Clinical (LCSW-C) with a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Social Work from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Michael’s College in Vermont. My professional experience also includes research at the University of Cambridge and King’s College. I have completed additional specialized training through the Certificate in Clinical Sports Social Work at the University of Michigan, the Somatic Stress Release Certificate through The Embody Lab, and the Teen Mental Health Certificate Program through Yale University.

Before opening Welling Wellness, I provided therapy in a variety of settings, including group private practices, the criminal legal system, public schools, and behavioral health clinics. I’m also a proud member of the Anxiety & Depression Association of America and the Athletes for Hope Alliance. As a former college athlete, I’m especially passionate about athlete mental health and advocate for racial justice, trauma survivors, gender equity, and workplace wellbeing.

Who I Work With

Support for teens, young adults, and adults—grounded in warmth and curiosity

I work with teens, young adults, and adults—often students, young professionals, survivors, and athletes—supporting them as they navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, stress, and life transitions. I provide therapy both in person in Baltimore, Maryland, and virtually for clients in Washington, D.C., and Virginia. My approach is grounded in creating a supportive, non-judgmental space where you can feel seen, heard, understood, and empowered.

How I Work

A warm, collaborative, and empowering approach

My Approach

Collaborative, person-centered, and real

Clients and team members often describe me as approachable, warm, direct when needed, truly kind, and funny. Above all, I aim to create a therapeutic space that is nonjudgmental, affirming, and collaborative—where you feel seen, heard, and empowered. You already carry incredible strengths, and together we’ll explore and amplify them, deepening your connection to your values, your voice, and your sense of empowerment.

Off The Clock

Outside The Therapy Room

When I’m not working, you can find me doing Pilates, planting, walking my dog, or binge-watching Grey’s Anatomy and Gilmore Girls. (INFJ here—so yes, I’m all about deep connections and grounded, cozy energy.)

I take a holistic, trauma-informed, person-centered approach that’s tailored to each client.

My work draws from:
  •  Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  •  Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  •  Narrative Therapy
  •  Parts Work
  •  Somatic Practices

Through this integrative approach, we’ll not only talk and process your experiences, but also work on regulating your nervous system, emotional regulation, and insight that goes beyond surface-level change.

Whether you’re navigating performance pressure at school, work, or in athletics, recovering from trauma, or simply looking to feel more grounded, I aim to meet you where you are—with compassion, insight, and sometimes a little humor
