Meet Isabella: Expert in Play Therapy

If you’re looking for a therapist who brings creativity, authenticity, and a genuine sense of curiosity into the therapy room, Isabella offers a space where clients can feel comfortable being themselves. She believes meaningful therapy begins with connection and that every client deserves an approach tailored to their unique experiences, strengths, and goals.

Isabella works with children, adolescents, teens, parents, and families, supporting clients navigating anxiety, emotional regulation, life transitions, relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, and the many ups and downs that come with growing up. With a background in attachment theory, play therapy, trauma-informed care, CBT, and DBT, she is especially passionate about helping children and teens better understand themselves while strengthening connections within families and support systems.

What draws Isabella to this work is the opportunity to see each client as a whole person rather than a collection of symptoms or challenges. She believes context matters and that understanding someone’s experiences, relationships, and environment often helps make sense of the ways they cope, connect, and move through the world. Whether through conversation, creativity, play, or skill-building, Isabella strives to create a space where clients feel empowered to explore, grow, and discover new perspectives.

Below is a closer look at Isabella in her own words:

What can clients expect in a first session with you?

Clients can expect a therapist with pink hair and a chat about your favorite things. The first session is always the toughest and it can be hard to open up to a complete stranger. I’ll meet you where you’re at and whether that’s about your treatment goals or what show you’re binging, I’m all ears.

What populations do you especially enjoy working with?

I really enjoy working with younger kids because of my background in attachment theory and play therapy. However, I love getting to share the power of play with adolescent and teen clients as well!

What’s something people often misunderstand about therapy?

Therapy looks like a lot of different things. A lot of people think it’s laying on a couch and talking about your childhood, and while that does happen if needed, there are so many interventions that fit various needs. Walking outside is therapy as much as analyzing thought patterns, so it helps to be in a space that empowers the client to find what they truly want.

What’s something you bring to therapy that can’t be taught in a textbook?

As clinicians, we need to be aware of a whole person and not just how their symptoms present. Context matters and it’s important we understand you within your life experiences. I want to help make connections in your life that you may not have noticed before, and sometimes that takes a little thinking outside the box.

What does self-care mean to you?

While I do love a chill night to reset, I want to attend to all the parts of me that need care. That could look like making a doctor’s appointment when my body is telling me it needs help or hanging out with friends because I’m feeling a little lonely. It’s important to consider not just attending to the physical part of yourself but also the emotional, mental, spiritual, and social parts.

What helps you reset after a long day?

I’m a big craft girl, so chances are, I’m making things from bag charms to crochet animals. If I’m not feeling like doing much, I’ll play a cozy Nintendo Switch game or curl up with a good book.

Are you more of a book, TV, or movie person

For the past couple of years, I’ve become more of a book person!

What’s something you’re currently enjoying or learning outside of work?

I recently got into audiobooks and I’m loving getting to have a book playing while going through my day.

Coffee, tea, matcha, or something else entirely?

Historically a coffee girl, but I’ve been venturing into the world of matcha!

What’s your favorite season and why

I absolutely love Fall! With the leaves changing and the weather getting slightly cooler, being outside feels extra special. I love Fall so much, I’m getting married in October!

What’s a favorite local spot in Baltimore?

There’s so many fun places in the city, but if you go a little further north, you’ll find the neighborhood of Hampden. The main street has fun shops, ice cream, and cool restaurants. Plus, during Christmas, they have the most beautiful lights!

How would you describe yourself in three words?

Creative, passionate, and curious.
